What Are Chemical Peels?
AlumierMD chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, acne (both current breakouts and scarring), congestion, UV damage, brown spots, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks to the skin by speeding up the skin’s natural cell renewal rate, sloughing off the dead and damaged skin to reveal new, healthy skin beneath.

The AlumierMD chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes damage to the outer layer of the dermis. Contrary to popular belief, nothing is peeled off the skin; the solution stays on. The “peeling” refers to the peeling off of dead skin cells. Side effects range from slight redness and swelling to crusting, blisters, and flaking depending on the type of peel you get.
What Areas Are Treated?
AlumierMD chemical peels come in three forms: deep chemical peels, medium chemical peels, and light chemical peels. All chemical peels are typically applied to the face only.
Light chemical peels involve alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, or salicylic acid) and are the lightest form of chemical peels that you can get. AHAs are used to treat superficial lines and wrinkles and require little to no downtime. Light chemical peels are not recommended for UV damage or pigmentation issues.
Medium chemical peels use trichloroacetic acid (TCA) instead of AHA and are used to treat pigmentation issues, acne scarring, dark circles, and light UV damage and wrinkles. They can be used on any area of the body and require very little downtime, although redness is common.
Deep chemical peels are the highest grade of peel available and use phenol acid to reach deep layers of the skin and cause ruptures at the cellular level. Deep chemical peels are used to treat coarse wrinkles, deep lines, significant UV damage and dark spots, as well as deep acne scarring. Because of the strength of the acid used, deep chemical peels require a lot of downtimes and significant redness and swelling can last for up to three weeks after treatment.

As we age, the rate at which our skin renews itself slows down, meaning a cell takes longer to die, dead skin takes longer to slough off, and new skin takes longer to be revealed. Our skin’s ability to hold moisture also diminishes. As a result, the damage is much more apparent and takes longer to heal and wrinkles form.

We offer 3 different kinds of Chemical Peels to cater to every client’s skin concern. All our peels are FDA Approved and non-invasive. All our peels are administered by a skin care specialist trained and skilled in skin observation while undergoing a peel treatment for optimal results.
Do I need to prepare for my chemical peel treatment?
We recommend a week prior to treatment, no use of retinol products, exfoliating acids, scrubs, sun exposure, tweezing, waxing, depilatory or prescription creams. All regular skincare routines may resume 2 weeks after a Chemical Peel treatment.
What is the recovery period?
Depending on the customized peel, recovery times are usually 5-14 days. Chemical Peels can vary also depending on the ingredients used as some peels are considered micro peels which usually have no actual shedding of the skin. Some of our Chemical Peels have no downtime or recovery time at all.
Are chemical peels painful?
No, Chemical Peels often result in a slight itching, tightness, dryness or slight sunburn feeling while healing. These are easily remedied with extra moisture and subsides with the healing process.
Are there any risks involved with chemical peels?
When receiving a Chemical Peel clients may experience minor swelling, a shedding of the skin which must be allowed to happen naturally. Clients are encouraged not to pick as the skin peels to avoid any scarring. There is a risk to clients who choose to expose their skin to sun exposure which is not recommended. Clients are provided after care instructions which helps to minimize any risks.
