How Does IPL Photofacial Work?
IPL Photofacial uses Intense Pulse Light technology to pass through the skin and directly target collagen, redness, brown, acne bacteria and rosacea bacteria located in the epidermis. The laser’s intense heat creates a reaction destroying the pigmented lesion. When this special light is absorbed, it transfers heat to the region, which results in the tightening of the existing collagen fibres and the stimulation of new collagen. This treatment both tightens and rejuvenates for brighter, smoother, firmer, and more even-toned skin.
How Many Treatments Are Necessary?
The number of sessions required to maximize improvement of the skin will depend on each individual. However, most people will require a series of 3-6 treatments and can expect to need maintenance treatments in the future. Treatments are usually spread out over a 2 to 4 week period depending on the severity of the pigmentation lesions, acne and age spots.
What is the ICON™ MaxG?
The Icon™ MaxG provides Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) also called IPL photofacials. IPL treatments can treat a variety of skin imperfections on the face and body, including brown and red pigmentation such as sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and spider veins. Pulses of high-energy light are sent into the skin layers, which causes the targeted tissue to gradually break down. The body’s natural healing process removes these cells and signals new cells and collagen to form in the area. Through this process, the skin achieves a more even texture, smoothing out wrinkles and other irregularities, as well as a more consistent pigment.
How Long Before I Can Expect Results?
Most treatments can be completed in under 30 minutes with results becoming apparent over the course of 2 weeks. While beautiful results can often be achieved with just one treatment, most patients will require 3 to 6 sessions to achieve their desired outcome.
