What is Skin Tightening?
TriPollar Skin Tightening is an aesthetic technique that uses radio frequency energy to heat tissue and stimulate collagen production in order to reduce the appearance of fine lines, UV damage, and loose, sagging skin.
The technique induces tissue rebuilding and production of new collagen. Collagen in the tissue is heated to create immediate results which is then followed by an overall skin remodeling as collagen production continues to increase over time.
Radio-frequency skin tightening is best recommended for areas where loose and sagging skin is apparent and a redefining of the skin’s elasticity is desired.
How Does Skin Tightening Work?
TriPollar Skin Tightening works by combining mono and bipolar radio frequencies using 30-50 watt output power. The key advantage of TriPollar Skin Tightening is that is uses three or more electrodes which allows for greater delivery of the waves, allowing for a more targeted and deeper penetration.
A typical treatment will usually last 10-60 minutes, with sessions recommended every week, and 6-10 sessions are usually recommended in a single treatment program. The process is relatively pain-free, but some patients experience redness in the treated area for about an hour after, as well as swelling for 24-48 hours after. Results are typically seen immediately after treatment and can last for years if maintained properly.
The process uses low-frequency waves that, when they come into contact with the skin, cause vibrations that cause the skin to tighten in response thereby making wrinkles and pores appear smaller.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
TriPollar Skin Tightening is recommended for sagging and loose skin and is therefore suitable for all areas of the body, even the face. Unlike CoolSculpting, TriPollar Skin Tightening does not require any topical application of a cooling agent or any post-treatment applications of lotions or serums.

When it comes to skin tightening, what can I expect from Ottawa MediSpa's Service?
Our TriPollar Skin Tightening treatment is tolerated very well. It is a relaxing treatment feeling very much like a warm massage. The treatment is performed in a private treatment room with appropriate spa attire if necessary depending on the area treated.
Are there any side effects from skin tightening
We recommend a week prior to treatment, no use of retinol products, exfoliating acids, scrubs, sun exposure, tweezing, waxing, depilatory or prescription creams. All regular skincare routines may resume 2 weeks after a Chemical Peel treatment.
Is there any downtime from skin tightening?
Depending on the customized peel, recovery times are usually 5-14 days. Chemical Peels can vary also depending on the ingredients used as some peels are considered micro peels which usually have no actual shedding of the skin. Some of our Chemical Peels have no downtime or recovery time at all.
How many skin tightening sessions will I need?
Body usually 6-12 treatments are recommended. For Face usually 4-6 treatments are recommended.
How long do the skin tightening results last?
Every individual is unique, the average is between 1-2 years or more. Regular maintenance is recommended for optimal tightening.
