PDO Thread Lifts

A Thread Lift is a minimally invasive treatment alternative to facelift surgery. A thread lifts give a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin, re-contours the face and provides rejuvenation through the stimulation of your body’s natural collagen.

What is a Thread Lift?

PDO Threads are a safe, dissolvable suture material that has been used since the 1990’s in soft tissue surgery. This unique treatment lifts and tightens loose, sagging skin using tiny threads made of medical grade suture material which are used to “stitch up” your skin so that it’s drawn taut. The threads are made of a few twisted fibres which are temporary and naturally dissolve after 6-9 months. Thread Lifts are among the most performed skin lifting treatments in the cosmetic medical world today. A Thread Lift treatment provides instant skin lifting, tightening and cellular renewal non-invasively.

What to expect during your treatment?

You will have a thorough consultation with our medical team to determine your treatment plan. During the treatment, a numbing agent is used to minimize possible discomfort and a cannula needle is used to insert the “barbed” threads. The thread grips your underlying tissue and muscles as the thread is pulled tight. Once the barbed thread is inserted, your body’s healing response is triggered. Even though you’re not injured by the threads under your skin, your body detects the suture material and stimulates collagen production in the affected area. Collagen can fill gaps in sagging skin and restore a more youthful elasticity to your face. Depending on the areas treated, the procedure will take about 45 minutes. Thread lifts don’t require general anesthesia and no time off work is necessary as recovery time is minimal.

What are the differences between Thread Lifts and Dermal Fillers?

If you have drooping, loose, sagging skin, a thread lift is going to provide the enhanced tightening of the skin with laxity, dermal fillers compliment the threads by restoring the natural volume loss we all experience when we age. Threads give you the best method of addressing the skin and the fillers give you the best option to maintain your plump volume. One is not better than the other, they are simply addressing different concerns and when used together provide beautiful options for clients who are not a candidate for a surgical facelift, find the cost to high or who are just not quite ready.

Who is a good candidate for a Thread Lift?

The procedure is best suited for men and women in their late 30’s to mid 50’s. This is when we commonly start to see the effects of ageing become apparent. Thread lifts can easily and safely be performed on the brows, cheeks, jawline, upper lip, marionette lines and neck. Several areas can be combined to provide a beautiful Mini Cosmetic Face Lift or a Full Cosmetic Face Lift.

How long will a Thread Lift last?

Thread lifts will generally last from one to three years. The collagen enhanced sutures begin stimulating your natural collagen immediately and as they remain under the skin doing their wonderful job of lifting for a year or more until the sutures have dissolved, then your own collagen rejuvenates and continues to build, providing your skin with lasting long-term benefits.

What are the best treatments and skincare to pair with Thread Lift?

Our medical treatments such as Dermal Fillers, Neuromodulators and Skin Rejuvenation are a nice compliment to your Thread Lift treatment depending on your treatment goals. Results from any treatment will last longer with regular facials and of course our medical grade skincare.

Other Benefits

Those clients who are not able to have a surgical facelift because of medical conditions that make general anesthesia risky, may consider a Thread Lift as a safer alternative. A Thread Lift is a great way to start your pro-aging journey until a surgical facelift is appropriate. It’s also a great alternative to a surgical neck lift. Although a surgical neck lift is a common way to remove excess fat and skin from the neck, our Neck Thread Lift offers our clients a non-surgical solution to help eliminate various age-related changes like sagging “turkey neck”, an undefined jawline, a little extra fat under the chin or the dreaded “mini jowl” we don’t care for.

Considerations

A Thread Lift is considered a low-risk procedure; however, there can be side effects and a risk of complications. After a Thread Lift, it’s not uncommon to experience bruising, swelling, slight bleeding or pain at the site of the thread injection. There is a low risk of complications; however possible complications are minor and can easily be corrected with your Injector upon your regular follow up. Our Injectors are trained, licensed providers, which is the key to a safe, effective Thread Lift.
