Sculptra™
The Sculptra™ filler is an injectable treatment that has been approved by Health Canada. Its purpose is to stimulate the natural revitalization of collagen production within your skin, resulting in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
What is Sculptra?
Since 1999, Sculptra, an injectable treatment made of poly-L-lactic acid, has been utilized to correct and restore the effects of facial fat loss, wrinkles, skin laxity, and loss of structural support. In 2006, Health Canada approved Sculptra™ for cosmetic use. The treatment involves injecting a synthetic and biocompatible solution beneath the skin’s surface in areas where there is a loss of volume. Gradually, Sculptra™ increases skin thickness in various regions, such as the temple area, the nasal labial folds, the marionette lines, under the eyes, and along the jawline, providing a noticeable and lasting improvement.
How many treatments will I need, and when will I see the results?
Typically, it is advised to undergo a total of three Sculptra™ treatments, spaced four weeks apart from one another. While the full results of Sculptra™ may take time to become visible, they will continue to improve as the treatment triggers natural collagen production within your body. Though the initial results are temporary and may gradually fade as your body absorbs the liquid solution containing Sculptra™, some visible changes can be noticed immediately after the treatment. The skin should begin producing collagen within 4 to 8 weeks following the first treatment, with noticeable results appearing earlier for some clients, depending on their age.
What to expect during your treatment?
The process of receiving a Sculptra™ treatment is similar to that of other injectable treatments, like dermal fillers. First, the treatment area is cleaned with an antiseptic, and a topical anesthetic is applied. The Sculptra™ solution is then injected using multiple injections and massaged to ensure even distribution of the product. Following the treatment, clients may experience some swelling and redness, but can typically resume their normal daily activities without delay. To ensure optimal results, clients will need to massage their face several times daily over a period of 5 days to evenly distribute the bio stimulant.
Who is a good candidate for Sculptra™?
Individuals who are over the age of 35 and are experiencing volume loss and other signs of facial aging are often considered ideal candidates for Sculptra™.
